FAMILY FUN

McMansions? Think urban! Be smart. Get McSerious!!!

It’s terribly challenging to grapple with statistics. The information provided in the referenced article can be misleading and contradictive.

To clarify: A McMansion, as defined by Wikipedia, in the simplest of terms, is a big, dumb house. Build a big, smart house, and you’ll have just that!

It’s also a matter of conformity!

Do I live on a $600K street? $500K?

A 4,000 sq. ft. new construction property on a lovely street of much smaller, older homes is, in my opinion, a little silly. Is it a McMansion? Maybe. Not necessarily.

Most interesting are the qualities that define this monstrosity; cheap building products, ugly façades -- homes that ultimately lack a definitive architectural style.
